OD180 was established and is dedicated to realizing this vision:

The nonprofit institution is passionately committed to a twofold mission of service and advocacy and carries out its mission while also upholding values of financial and environmental sustainability. Its board of directors fully understands and embraces its collective role as steward of a public trust. This understanding moves the individual directors to be proactive about the leadership they offer, functioning variously as promoters, defenders, evaluators, and governors.

The management of the agency is both visionary and very practical. In all their efforts, they consistently seek to move the organization forward strategically, taking full advantage of opportunities and avoiding or mitigating threats to the extent feasible. They are also diligent about continually reviewing operations with a view to increasing both efficiency and effectiveness. Integral to their approach is a deep appreciation for the people who “make it all happen” – an appreciation that flows into a commitment to personal and professional development of the staff.

Because of the sound leadership offered by both board and staff, the institution has come to enjoy a notable degree of admiration in the communities in which it operates as well as a high level of donor and volunteer loyalty. Not taking this support for granted, the institution makes a consistent, substantial investment in communicating and interacting with its stakeholders as well as the general public. These relational efforts are marked by timeliness and transparency as well as sensitivity and creativity.
