Values
Devote
As integrity increases, power increases.
-- Robert Quinn
Basic Principles
Over the course of my professional life thus far, I have discerned that my personal passion and my vocational desire are one and the same. That is fortuitous, I suppose, because this life is simply too short not to devote it to what one dreams of doing.
My passion and my desire spring from a world-view that has distilled from several streams, most prominently work, study, and travel. In this view, I see that there is an essential unity to all things, particularly living beings. From this perspective, I derive a fundamental philosophical/theological principle:
All is inherently good; all is inherently sacred.
This principle leads me to seek to be guided in life and work by three fundamental values:
- Integrity of self,
- Compassion toward others, and
- Justice for all.
Motivated by this passionate belief in the sacredness of all and guided by the ethical principles which flow from that belief, the guiding value of this consultancy is to contribute to the common good and to bear witness to the wisdom of upholding the common good as the way by which all may live more fully and more happily.
Foundation-Stones of Organization-Building
In building organizations, the learning I have gained from both direct experience and observation as well as secondary research persuades me that there are five foundation-stones of building organizations. They are:
- Courage of commitment,
- Creativity in method,
- Generosity of spirit,
- Honesty in communication, and
- Steadfastness of purpose.
