Strategic Planning

Plan

If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I would spend six sharpening my ax.
-- Abraham Lincoln

Process Overview

  1. Review Mission, Vision, and Values Statements and revise and refine as appropriate.
  2. Assess the current situation by gathering and analyzing information from both internal and external sources, relative to the organization and the environment in which it operates.
  3. Discuss and build agreement about strategic priorities.
  4. Draft the Strategic Plan.
  5. Adopt the plan, along with protocols for monitoring and evaluating it.

Anticipated Outcomes

Organization leaders have a plan by which to guide their actions pertinent to program, resource development, administration, and structure & governance for the next several years (usually two to four). Moreover, there is enhanced clarity about mission, vision, and values.
