The great use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it.

A Personal Statement

I have always desired to be an instrument of positive change in the world, particularly in the lives of people and other beings who are hurting…who are lonely or poor or oppressed or repressed…as well as the Earth as a whole. Over the years of my professional life, friends and colleagues have helped me discern gifts for leading, strategizing, and communicating which I have used to embolden various sorts of healers, helpers, justice-makers, and counselors.

For a long while, this sense of vocation took an explicitly religious form as I worked as a member of the clergy within the institutions of the Episcopal Church. Yet, even as a cleric, my emphasis and passion were predominantly organizational. I loved seeing how organizations operated to effect their good purposes (or not) and enthusiastically joined in change efforts to improve their effectiveness and vitality.

That is what I continue to do through the instrumentality of this management consulting practice– just on a broader, more open and diverse landscape.
