The Fifth Seed Thought: Embody a vision of the common good.
-- Robert Quinn

While every project is unique, most follow a general pattern with respect to the method employed.

  1. A signed Service Agreement between client and consultant outlines the aim and general course of the project and signals its commencement.
  2. The consultant does background study, as appropriate. (For example, board officers are interviewed in advance of a board training conference.)
  3. The consultant collates the data collected in the background study and prepares an analysis of it.
  4. Client and consultant review the information gathered, along with the consultant’s analysis and preliminary recommendations.
  5. Client and consultant review options for implementation and decide on an agenda.
  6. Implementation of the project proceeds.
  7. Client and consultant review and evaluate the project at appropriate intervals, making adjustments in the plan as deemed prudent.
