The constituents of a nonprofit organization generally include many if not all of the following: affiliates (local/regional/national), allied organizations, alumni/former clients, clients, donors, legators, members, neighbors, referral sources, sponsors, staff, volunteers, and the general public. An intentional, integrated and comprehensive approach to relating with these constituents is vitally important to the ongoing advancement of every nonprofit organization.

Process Overview

  1. Review current formal policies and procedures pertaining to interactions with and communications to constituents.
  2. Review actual constituent relations practices.
  3. Based on the information gathered in the reviews, prepare a Development Survey & Assessment which includes both findings and recommendations.
  4. Support the implementation of new guidelines for constituent relations.
  5. Review results and revise the guidelines as deemed prudent.

Anticipated Outcomes

The organization is interacting and communicating with its several constituencies according to a set of integrated, comprehensive guidelines and which are resulting in increased loyalty to and support for the organization.
